# How to Enable WebGL in Major Browsers

# How to Enable WebGL in Major Browsers

Our slicer uses WebGL to render advanced 2D and 3D graphics in your browser using your computer’s GPU. If you’re encountering WebGL-related errors or performance issues, this guide walks you through enabling WebGL across popular browsers.

---

## Google Chrome (and Chromium-based browsers like Edge)

### Steps to Enable WebGL:

1. Go to **Settings** → **System** (or visit `chrome://settings/system`).
2. Enable **Use hardware acceleration when available**, then **Relaunch** the browser.
3. Visit `chrome://flags`, search for **WebGL**, and enable **WebGL Draft Extensions**. Relaunch again.
4. (Optional) Enable **Override software rendering list** via flags if needed.
5. To verify, go to `chrome://gpu` and check if WebGL appears as **Hardware accelerated**.

## Mozilla Firefox

### Steps to Enable WebGL:

1. Navigate to `about:config`.
2. Search and verify settings:
* `webgl.disabled` should be set to **false**
* (Optional) Set `webgl.force-enabled` to **true**
3. (Optional) Start Firefox in Safe Mode to rule out extension conflicts.
4. Visit `about:support` and review the **Graphics** section to check your WebGL status.

## Apple Safari (macOS & iOS)

### macOS Safari (Desktop):

1. Open **Preferences** → **Advanced** and check **Show Develop menu in menu bar**.
2. From the **Develop** menu → **Experimental Features**, enable **WebGL** or **WebGL 2.0**.
3. (Optional) In some cases, enable via Terminal:

```bash
   defaults write com.apple.Safari WebKitPreferences.webGLEnabled 1
```

   Then restart Safari.

### iOS Safari (iPhone/iPad):

* Navigate to **Settings** → **Safari** → **Advanced** → **Experimental Features** → toggle **WebGL 2.0** if available.

## Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based)

### Steps to Enable WebGL:

1. Go to **Settings** → **System** (or `edge://settings/system`) and toggle **Use hardware acceleration when available**, then relaunch.
2. Open `edge://flags`, search for **WebGL**, enable **WebGL Draft Extensions**, and relaunch again.
3. Use `edge://gpu` to check if WebGL is **Hardware accelerated**.
