# How to import from 3D Filament Profiles (SpoolDB)

How to import your spools from 3D Filament Profiles (SpoolDB) into SimplyPrint's filament manager.

## Export your spools from 3D Filament Profiles

1. Go to [3dfilamentprofiles.com/my/spools](https://3dfilamentprofiles.com/my/spools) and log in.
2. Click the **Export** button in the top right corner.
3. Select **Export My Spools (CSV)** from the dropdown menu.

| JSON export also works - both formats are supported by SimplyPrint.

## Import into SimplyPrint

1. Open the **Filament** page in SimplyPrint.
2. Click the **Import** button (top right).
3. Upload the CSV (or JSON) file you just exported.
4. SimplyPrint will automatically detect the format and map the columns for you.
5. Review the preview to make sure everything looks right, then click **Import**.

## What gets imported

| Field | Description |
| ----- | ----------- |
| Brand | Matched against our filament database when possible |
| Material | Material type (PLA, PETG, ABS, etc.) and variant (Basic, CF, HF, etc.) |
| Color | Color name and hex value |
| Remaining weight | How much filament is left on the spool |
| Location | Storage location - new locations are created automatically if needed |
| Notes | Any notes you added to the spool |

| If a brand from your export exists in SimplyPrint's filament database, the spool will be linked to it automatically. This gives you accurate density values and slicing profiles for that brand's filament.
