# Setting up a Slack Webhook - getting SimplyPrint events in Slack via SimplyPrint

In this guide, we'll show you how to use the Webhooks feature in SimplyPrint to send a Webhook to **Slack**, allowing you to set up a SimplyPrint "bot" in a Slack channel, that posts a message whenever a certain event happens.

### 1. Can SimplyPrint Webhooks send private Slack messages? ("DM")
No, Slack incoming webhooks support messages to channels only.

### 2. What can be sent as Webhooks?
SimplyPrint supports sending a *lot* of events via Webhooks. Go to the SimplyPrint Settings > Webhooks to see more!

### 3. Is it easy to set up Webhooks?
It's super easy! While it may sound complicated, *everyone* can set up webhooks, and following this guide will allow you to do so in 1-3 minutes!

# How Webhooks for Slack work
When setting up a Webhook in your SimplyPrint settings, use the Slack Webhook URL, and SimplyPrint will format the message appropriately for Slack.

# Setting up a SimplyPrint -> Slack Webhook

### Step 1: Create an app on Slack
Go to [Slack API Apps](https://api.slack.com/apps/) and click "Create New App".

### Step 2: Choose "From scratch"
Select "From scratch" when creating the app.

### Step 3: Name your app and choose a workspace
Enter the name "SimplyPrint" (or another name you prefer), select your Slack workspace, and click "Create App".

### Step 4: Set Display Information
Under "Basic Information" scroll to "Display Information" and set:

* **App name:** SimplyPrint
* **Short description:** Webhooks for SimplyPrint
* Optionally upload the SimplyPrint logo as app icon ([download logo with white background,](https://test.simplyprint.io/api/general/BrandingDownload?id=7&type=png) or find our logos & assets here; https://simplyprint.io/branding)
* Set background color to `#2249a0`

Click "Save Changes".

### Step 5: Activate Incoming Webhooks
Go to "Incoming Webhooks" under the "Features" section, and flip the switch to activate incoming webhooks.

### Step 6: Add Webhook to Workspace
Scroll down and click "Add New Webhook to Workspace".

### Step 7: Select Channel
Choose the Slack channel where webhook messages will be posted and authorize.

### Step 8: Copy Webhook URL
Once created, copy the Webhook URL.

### Step 9: Add to SimplyPrint
Go to SimplyPrint Settings > Webhooks, create a new webhook, select Slack, and paste the webhook URL.

### Step 10: Done! Go test it!
That's it! You can test the webhook directly from SimplyPrint settings.

# Troubleshooting & help

* **Verify the Webhook still exists in Slack**
    
* **Verify the Webhook is enabled in SimplyPrint settings**
    
* **Check subscribed events in SimplyPrint settings**
    
* **Try setting it up again if issues persist**
