# The Filament Shop feature: restock, deals and filament for your printers

The Filament Shop is where SimplyPrint helps you buy filament. It shows the colours you are about to run out of, with a shop that sells them in your country, our discount codes and the shops' current deals, filament suggestions based on what other SimplyPrint accounts with your printers use, and a catalog of the filaments in the Open Filament Database to search and compare.

In this guide you will learn what each part of the Shop shows, how "Running low" and the "Popular with..." suggestions are worked out, and how to tailor the Shop with stars and hidden brands.

|| Some links in the Shop are affiliate links: SimplyPrint may earn a commission when you buy, at no extra cost to you. The price at the shop is the same either way.

## Where to find the Shop
Open **Filament** in the sidebar and choose **Shop**. The cog in the top-right corner of the Shop opens its settings, under **Settings > Filament > Shop**.

The Shop is part of the filament system, so it is available on every plan.

## Running low
"Running low" looks at the spools in your filament inventory and lists the colours you should buy again. It counts every spool of the same filament and colour together, so it works the same for one spool on a desk and fifty spools on a print farm shelf.

A colour shows here when:

- **It runs out within a month at your pace:** SimplyPrint adds up how much of that colour you printed over the last 60 days and works out how many days what you have left will last. Under 30 days, it is running low.
- **Less than a quarter of a spool is left**, whether or not you printed it lately.
- **It is used up:** you have no spool of that colour left, and the last one was emptied in the last 180 days.

For each colour you see how many spools you have, the weight left, roughly how much you print a week, and how many more spools to buy for the next two months at that pace. The **Buy** button opens that colour at a shop that ships to your country, where the Open Filament Database knows one.

| Only spools linked to a filament from the Open Filament Database count, because that is how the Shop knows which product and colour to send you to. A spool added from a brand's product (for example "Bambu Lab PLA Basic, Bambu Green") is linked; a spool with only a generic material is not.

## Suggested for you: starred filaments and suggestions
**Suggested for you** brings together what you starred and the filament the Shop picks for you, a tab each. The line under the tabs says how that tab is picked.

- **Starred:** the filaments and brands you starred, at the shops that sell them where you are. Star a filament with the star on its card anywhere in Suggested for you or Browse filament (starring needs the filament settings permission), and a brand under **Settings > Filament > Shop**, which adds the brand's most used filaments. Many accounts do not track spools in SimplyPrint: for them, Starred is the Shop's own list of what they buy.
- **From [brands]:** a printer maker's own filament, for the makers you print on, the most used first. If you have not added a printer yet, the brands you picked when you signed up are used. The makers take turns, so each one shows.
- **Popular on the [printer]:** the filaments the most accounts printed with on your most common printer model over the last 90 days.
- **Popular with print farms running [brand] printers:** the same, for print farms (accounts with 11 or more printers) on your most common printer's brand.
- **Popular with SimplyPrint users:** the filaments the most SimplyPrint accounts have in stock or printed with over the last 90 days.

When something in your inventory runs low, Running low comes first and Suggested for you follows it; otherwise Suggested for you is at the top.

## How "Popular with..." is worked out
Every suggestion tab leaves out filament you already stock or starred, and filament your printers do not print well (judged from each printer's hotend, bed, chamber, enclosure and extruder, and the maker's own list of materials where it has one).

A few rules keep the suggestions useful and private:

- **A printer maker's own filament only shows if it fits you.** Bambu Lab's filament is popular, but mostly with people who print on Bambu Lab printers. It is suggested if you print on Bambu Lab printers, already stock Bambu Lab filament or, before you add a printer, picked Bambu Lab when you signed up. Filament brands that do not make printers are suggested to everyone.
- **The Popular groups only suggest filaments enough accounts use:** at least 3 accounts, or 5 for the printer and print farm groups. The Shop never says how many accounts use something, only the order.
- **The numbers are rebuilt every night,** from every account except SimplyPrint's own, test and partners' internal accounts.

## Deals and discount codes
The Deals card shows our own discount codes first, then live offers from the shops we work with, the brands you stock or print on first. Cards also show a green badge like **Save 3% · SIMPLYPRINT** when their Buy button goes to a brand's own shop that gives SimplyPrint users a discount.

Where the deals come from, how they are picked, and how to hide one you do not want is all in [Filament deals in SimplyPrint: where they come from and how they are chosen](https://help.simplyprint.io/en/article/filament-deals-in-simplyprint-where-they-come-from-and-how-they-are-chosen-38jqjy/).

## Browse filament
Browse filament is the Open Filament Database in the Shop: every filament it lists with colours and print temperatures. Search the way you would say it: "red PLA", "matte PETG", a brand or a product line, or a RAL code like "RAL 7016". Words that match nothing (like "I want a") are left out, and the Shop tells you which.

Narrow it down with:

- **Brand** and **material**, each showing how many filaments it keeps.
- **Colour** chips, from black to multicolour and transparent. With a colour picked, each card shows its colours in that shade.
- **Prints well on my printers**, on by default when you have printers.
- **Only with a price**, for the filaments a shop sells in your country at a price we know.

Sort by **Most used**, **Lowest price per kg**, **Most colours** or **Name (A-Z)**. Price per kg is the fair comparison, so a 250 g spool never looks cheaper than it is.

![](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/f/f/2/2/ff22a914001c1000/filament-shop-browse_l4lj60.png)

Each card has **View**, for the filament's page on simplyprint.io with its print settings, the printers that print it well and its colours, and **Buy**. With a price, **Buy** opens that shop, and the arrow next to it lists the other shops that sell the filament where you are, Amazon included where it sells it. Without a price, **Buy** opens that list. Your favourite stores come first in the list.

## Prices and your country
The Shop uses the country in your account settings, or where you are when your account has none. The line under the Shop's title says which, for example "Prices and shops for Denmark".

- Prices and shop lists only use shops that ship to your country, where the Open Filament Database knows it.
- A price is the shop's own price in the currency your region's shops sell in (euros across Europe, including Denmark; Australian dollars in Australia and New Zealand; US dollars elsewhere outside Europe, the UK and Canada), never converted, and only shown if it was checked in the last two weeks. Where a shop has no price for your region, Running low may show its US price, marked US$.
- In Browse, a card's price is the price at one of your favourite stores when one sells it, otherwise the lowest price per kg among 1.75 mm spools not marked out of stock, at shops that ship to you where that is known.

## Starring brands and filaments, and hiding brands
Everything you tell the Shop is kept per account, so it applies to everyone on your account. You can manage it all under **Settings > Filament > Shop**:

- **Starred brands** and **Starred filaments** fill the Starred tab and put the brands' deals first.
- **Favourite stores** come first in every filament's list of shops, and their price is the one shown on its card. The stores your spools say they were bought at count as favourites too.
- **Brands you are not interested in:** no deals or suggestions from them. Browse leaves them out too, unless you choose the brand.
- **Hidden deals:** deals you dismissed. Any of them can be shown again.

## Who can use the Shop
Using the Shop needs the **View filament system** and **Use the filament shop** permissions. **Use the filament shop** goes to the user groups that can add spools; account admins can change that per user group under the account's user groups.

Starring, hiding brands and dismissing deals change the Shop for the whole account, so they also need the **filament settings** permission. Users without it see the Shop as it is.

The Shop is not available in white-label (OEM) panels.
