Cloud Slicer limits & queue
Overview
Our Cloud Slicer brings the power of high-speed, server-based slicing directly to you, allowing for faster and more complex slicing without using your computer's resources. To ensure the system remains fast, fair, and accessible for all our users, we have implemented a system of usage limits and a slicing queue.
This article explains how these systems work, why they are in place, and what you can expect when using the Cloud Slicer feature.
Understanding Usage Limits
The Cloud Slicer relies on our powerful servers to process your 3D models. Since this process incurs significant computational costs, we have established usage limits to prevent abuse and offer a sustainable service, including a free tier for users to experience the feature.
Your allowed usage is based on a sliding window system. This means your usage limit is not tied to a fixed calendar day, week, or month that resets at a specific time. Instead, it's a continuously moving timeframe. For example, with a daily limit, your allowance is based on the number of slices you've performed in the last 24 hours. A slice you made 23 hours ago still counts towards your limit, but it will expire in one hour, freeing up capacity for a new slice. This ensures fair usage at any time of day.
You can easily track your current allowance in the Cloud Slicer interface.
Free users have a modest limit to get a taste of the feature, while our paid plans offer significantly higher allowances to accommodate more frequent and demanding slicing needs.
How the Slicing Queue Works
To manage server load and provide a stable experience for everyone, all slicing jobs are entered into a queue. When you submit a model for slicing, it is assigned a position in this queue.
The queue is organized by priority, which is determined by your subscription plan. Users on higher-tier plans receive priority in the queue. This structure allows us to provide faster turnaround times for the customers who financially support the ongoing cost of the server infrastructure, while still ensuring that all users get their jobs processed in a fair order.
Conclusion
The usage limits and queue system are essential for maintaining a high-quality, responsive, and fair Cloud Slicing service for the entire community. The limits ensure that resources are available for everyone, and the prioritized queue rewards subscribers with faster access.
If you find you need higher limits or faster slicing times, please consider upgrading your plan to better suit your needs.
