How to export your filament spools from OctoPrint Filament Manager & import into SimplyPrint
This guide explains how to export your spool data from the OctoPrint Filament Manager plugin and import it into SimplyPrint's Filament Manager.
Exporting from OctoPrint Filament Manager
- Open your OctoPrint web interface
- Click the wrench icon in the top navigation bar to open Settings
- In the left sidebar, scroll down to the Plugins section and click Filament Manager
- Click the settings cog icon in the top right corner of the Filament Manager settings
- In the "Plugin Configuration" modal, click the Database tab
- Click the Export button in the "Import & Export" section at the bottom
This will download a .zip file containing your spool and profile data.
Importing into SimplyPrint
- In SimplyPrint, go to Filament Manager and click Import
- Upload the
.zipfile you just exported — no need to unzip it, SimplyPrint handles it automatically - SimplyPrint will join the spool and profile data, auto-detect the format, and show you a preview
- Review the preview - you'll see how each spool will be matched to brands and materials
- Click Import to bring in your spools

After importing
Your spools will appear in the Filament Manager right away. SimplyPrint matches brands and materials against the Open Filament Database when possible, giving you accurate filament profiles with temperature settings.
If some brands or materials could not be matched, the spools are still created - they just won't have a linked profile from the database. You can manually assign profiles later by editing the spool.
