Saving and managing custom filament label presets
Custom label presets let you save a filament label design once and reuse it whenever you generate labels. This guide explains how to create, update, copy, rename, and delete presets in the SimplyPrint label generator.

What a custom preset saves
A preset stores the design and layout of the label, including its page or label size, margins, grid, text fields, QR code or barcode settings, colors, rotation, and printer-offset compensation.
The preset does not belong to a particular spool. You choose the spools and number of copies for each label-generation run, then apply the saved design to them.
Saved presets belong to your SimplyPrint organization. Other members can use them when their user rank allows access to user-created label presets.
Create a custom label preset
- Open the Filament Manager.
- Select one or more spools.
- On desktop, click Generate QR codes. On mobile, open Actions and choose Generate QR codes.
- Choose a built-in preset as your starting point, then adjust the label size, layout, text, QR code, barcode, or other settings.
- After you make a change, click Save as... in the action bar at the bottom of the generator. On mobile, this appears as the green save icon.
- Enter a descriptive preset name and click Save.
The new preset is selected immediately, so you can continue editing or print with it right away.
Reuse a saved preset
Open the label generator for the spools you want to label, then open the Preset selector. Your saved designs appear in the User Presets group.
Selecting a preset applies its stored design to the selected spools without changing their Filament Manager records.
For a broader guide to label sizes, text, QR codes, downloads, and printing, see The Filament Label Generator feature.
Update or copy a preset
To update an existing preset, select it, make your changes, and click Save. The saved preset is replaced with the current settings.
To keep the original and make a variation, open the arrow beside Save and choose Save as new.... Give the copy a new name, then save it.
Using Save as new... is useful when you want several versions for different label stock, printers, materials, or layouts without rebuilding each design.
Rename or delete a preset
Select a saved preset from User Presets. The pencil and trash buttons beside the preset selector let you rename or delete it.
Deleting a preset cannot be undone. It removes the preset from the organization, but it does not affect labels you already printed or downloaded.
Set an organization default
Accounts with multi-user features can set a built-in or custom preset as the organization default. Select the preset and click Set as organization default below the selector.
The control requires multi-user features and Manage filament label presets. Saving the default also requires Filament settings.
If the Save button is missing
The Save control only appears after the current label settings differ from the selected preset. Change a setting such as the text size, label dimensions, layout, or black-and-white mode and check the bottom action bar again.
If Save still does not appear, your user rank may not have Manage filament label presets. An organization administrator can enable that permission in the user-rank settings. Editing the label design also requires Access filament label settings.
The name of the main button depends on what you selected:
- Save as... means you are creating a new preset from a built-in or custom design.
- Save means you are updating an existing preset under User Presets.
