Browser extensions; send Thingiverse & Printables files directly to SimplyPrint

In this article, we'll talk about the browser extensions for SimplyPrint, what they do, how they work, and how to install them!

What are browser extensions?

Browser extensions (also sometimes called "plugins"), can extend the capabilities of your browser, and this is just what the SimplyPrint browser extensions does as well!
Extensions can be installed via the official extension "store" / "marketplace" of your browser.

What is the SimplyPrint browser extension?

The SimplyPrint browser extension makes it easy to send 3D models that you like to SimplyPrint, to either be sliced, added to queue, printed or stored in your file storage, via Thingiverse and Printables.

Our extension simply adds a "Send to SimplyPrint" button to the "Files" section of Thingiverse and Printables, so instead of downloading the file, you can now click a "SimplyPrint"-button, and have it sent to the SimplyPrint platform instantly instead!

Which browsers does the extension work for?

Google Chrome
Microsoft Edge
Firefox
+ most or all "Chromium" based browsers, such as Vivaldi, Brave, Opera etc.

We do not have an extension for the Safari browser, as Safari extensions are made quite differently than most other modern browsers (for the best SimplyPrint experience, we recommend using Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge or any Chromium-based browser instead of Safari).

How to install

Our extension can be downloaded via the Chrome webshop, the Edge "Add-ons" store, and the Firefox Extensions store;
Chrome; https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/simplyprint/ajimllenbipapigpfnncfenedhenkpfb
Edge; https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/simplyprint/gpagaifomgpbdglfgpondkkhfbgggmfj
Firefox; https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/simplyprint/

For other Chromium-based browsers, you should be able to install the extension via the Chrome webshop.

Printables integration

Does this extension track my browser or send any data to SimplyPrint?

No. All this extension does, is add a button to the Thingiverse and Printables website. This means that our browser extension does not have access from your browser, to really do anything else (as it does not request other permissions), and as you'll be able to see on the store pages such as the Firefox extension page, all the extension can do, is open new tabs, and access data for printables.com and thingiverse.com.

The extension also does not require your login information, as it simply sends you to a new simplyprint.io/panel tab, where you interact with SimplyPrint like you usually would!
