How to select a printer, machine profile, nozzle, and bed type
The Cloud Slicer needs to know what printer setup you are slicing for. This guide explains the printer selector, machine profile, nozzle diameter, and bed type options in the Cloud Slicer sidebar.

Why these selections matter
The Cloud Slicer uses real slicer engines, so the printer setup is more than a label.
Your printer, machine profile, nozzle, and bed type affect:
- The build volume
- The printable area
- The available print profiles
- The available filament profiles
- Nozzle-related settings such as line width
- Bed-specific settings such as bed temperature behavior
- Whether the generated G-code matches your printer
If these selections do not match your real printer setup, the G-code may be wrong for the printer.
Select a printer
- Open Slicer in SimplyPrint.
- In the Cloud Slicer sidebar, find the printer card.
- Click the printer card or selector.
- Choose the printer you want to slice for.
If the printer is connected to SimplyPrint, the selector can use that printer's model and slicer setup. The printer may still show as offline, but you can usually prepare a slice for it as long as a compatible machine profile is available.
Select a machine profile
The machine profile is the slicer engine's printer profile. It tells the slicer about the printer's physical and firmware setup.
A machine profile can include things like:
- Build plate size
- Bed shape
- Firmware flavor
- Nozzle setup
- Printer-specific start and end G-code
- Engine-specific printer settings
To change it, open the machine profile selector below the printer card and choose the profile that matches your printer.
Select a nozzle diameter
The nozzle diameter should match the nozzle installed on the printer.
Common examples are:
- 0.2 mm
- 0.4 mm
- 0.6 mm
- 0.8 mm
The selected nozzle diameter can affect which print profiles are available. A profile made for a 0.4 mm nozzle may not appear when a 0.6 mm nozzle is selected.
Select a bed type
The bed type should match the build plate or surface you are printing on.
Examples can include textured PEI, smooth PEI, cool plate, engineering plate, or other bed types depending on the selected engine and machine profile.
The bed type can affect slicer settings such as bed temperature and first-layer behavior. If your connected printer has a different bed type selected than the Cloud Slicer, SimplyPrint may ask whether you want to sync the selected bed type to the printer.
If the right option is missing
If you cannot find the printer, machine profile, nozzle, or bed type you need, check:
- Whether the selected slicer engine supports that printer profile
- Whether the selected engine version has profiles for that printer
- Whether the printer model is supported by the engine
- Whether a custom machine profile is needed
- Whether your account has permission to create or edit slicer profiles
The Cloud Slicer shows the profiles the slicer engines have. If an engine does not include a profile for a printer, you may need to use a different engine, import a profile, or create a custom machine profile.
