The AutoSwap clearing method for AutoPrint

The AutoSwap clearing method for AutoPrint

AutoSwap is an automatic plate-switching mod that swaps the whole print plate between prints. It supports the Bambu Lab A1 and the Anycubic Kobra 3, so SimplyPrint can keep the queue running unattended. This guide covers what it does, how to select it as your AutoPrint clearing method, and the plate-limit setting it needs.

AutoSwap runs as a clearing method inside AutoPrint, which is part of the Pro plan and up.

What AutoSwap is

AutoSwap is a plate-swap mod made by AutoSwap. According to AutoSwap, when a print finishes it ejects the current plate and slides a fresh one into place, so the printer keeps going without anyone removing the finished part. Paired with AutoPrint, it lets a supported printer work through a stack of plates on its own.

AutoSwap supports two printers, each with its own clearing variant in SimplyPrint:

  • Bambu Lab A1
  • Anycubic Kobra 3

Selecting AutoSwap on a printer

You set a clearing method per printer, from the AutoPrint settings.

  1. Open the printer's control panel and find the AutoPrint widget.
  2. Open the AutoPrint settings and find the Clearing method section.
  3. Click the method selector and choose AutoSwap.
  4. In the variant dropdown, pick Bambu Lab A1 or Anycubic Kobra 3 to match your printer. The clearing sequence is different per printer, so this matters.
  5. Set a Max AutoPrint cycles value to match your plate stack (see below), then save.
  6. Flip the AutoPrint switch on for the printer.

You can view the AutoSwap clearing gcode under the gcode editor and adjust it if your setup needs it. Always match the variant to the printer the mod is installed on.

Set a max cycle count

AutoSwap works through a finite stack of plates, so SimplyPrint asks you to set a Max AutoPrint cycles value. This is how many prints (plate swaps) the printer runs before it stops and waits for you to reload plates. Set it to the number of plates your stack holds.

What SimplyPrint does each cycle

With AutoSwap selected, each AutoPrint cycle runs like this:

  1. The print finishes and SimplyPrint detects the completed state.
  2. The bed cools to the temperature (or for the time) you set, so the part releases from the plate.
  3. SimplyPrint runs the AutoSwap clearing sequence for your printer variant, ejecting the finished plate and loading a fresh one.
  4. SimplyPrint verifies the bed is clear. With a camera connected, AI bed check can confirm visually before continuing.
  5. SimplyPrint matches the next queue item and starts it, until the max-cycle count is reached.

For how matching, scheduling and verification work in detail, see the AutoPrint overview.
