Bambu Lab: LAN-only mode and developer mode - how to enable

In this guide, we'll show you how to enable "LAN-Only" mode on your Bambu Lab printers, and enabling the new "Developer mode", which, with Bambu Lab's new firmware (version 01.08.03.00 and above), will allow you to keep having your printer fully compatible with SimplyPrint (learn more here; Bambu Lab: printer stopped working after firmware upgrade / can't start prints anymore)

What is LAN-only mode?

LAN-only mode lets you have your printer only connected to your local network; this means it won't connect to the Bambu Lab cloud or any other services; only your local network.
For SimplyPrint users, with the new "security firmware" that Bambu has released, LAN-only mode - with "Developer mode" enabled (you'll learn more about that in a second) - allows you to keep your printer working with SimplyPrint even on the latest firmware versions.

One drawback of having your printer in LAN-only mode, is that you won't be able to use the official Bambu Lab "**Bambu Handy**" app for iOS and Android - but, fear not; the SimplyPrint app has got you covered, and will still work even if your printer is in LAN-only mode!

What is developer mode?

"Developer mode" was introduced in the 01.08.03.00 firmware update - as per. March 18th, only live for the Bambu Lab X1 series, but with A1 and P1 series updates announced as well.
This new mode can be enabled for LAN-Only mode printers, and will allow them to keep working with SimplyPrint.

Enabling LAN Only Mode

Bambu Lab's wiki includes a guide on how to do this (currently just for the X series); https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/knowledge-sharing/enable-developer-mode
This YouTube video by "Print Practical" shows you how to do it for the P1 and A1 series;

On any Bambu Lab printer, LAN Only Mode can be enabled by going to the printer, and on the screen go to;
- Settings
- WLAN / network settings
- Enable "LAN Mode Only"

Enabling Developer Mode

On all Bambu Lab printers with the latest firmware, once LAN Only Mode is enabled, you should see a "Developer Mode" option in the same settings menu; enable this.
