Attendance tracking in the Academy
Attendance tracking in the Academy
The Attendance tab lets you open a session and record who showed up - either by letting people sign themselves in, or by marking them present yourself. It is a lightweight register for a class period, a workshop or an onboarding session. This guide covers starting a session, how people sign in, marking attendance, and reading the roster.

Opening the Attendance tab
Go to the Academy, click Reports & assignments, then choose the Attendance tab. You will see a list of your sessions, with the most recent at the top.

Starting a session
Click Start a session. You can give it an optional name to tell sessions apart - for example "Period 3 - Tuesday" in a school, or "Onboarding - morning" for a team. The session opens immediately and is ready for people to sign in.
Each session records when it started and how many people have signed in so far. An open session shows a green Open badge.
How people sign themselves in
While a session is open, members can sign themselves in. SimplyPrint records who signed in and that they did it themselves rather than being marked by a teacher. This is the quickest way to take a register for a larger group - you open the session, people sign in, and you close it.
Marking someone present
You do not have to rely on self sign-in. Open a session's Roster and use the "Mark someone present" box to search for a person and mark them present yourself. SimplyPrint records these as marked by a teacher, so you can tell self sign-ins apart from ones you added.
This is useful for anyone who could not sign in themselves, or to complete the register after the fact.
The roster
Click Roster on a session to see who is signed in. Each entry shows the person's name, whether they signed in themselves or were marked present, and the time. People who are recorded as absent are shown too, so you get the full picture of the session rather than just the attendees.

Closing and reopening sessions
When the period is over, click Close on the session. Closed sessions stop accepting new sign-ins but keep their roster. If you need to add someone later, click Reopen. You can also delete a session entirely, which removes it and its roster.
