Course assignments: require courses for your students or team
A course assignment ties one or more courses to a set of people and tells SimplyPrint they need to complete them. You can add a due date, require the courses before anyone is allowed to print, and ask people to sign off that they have understood the material. This guide covers creating an assignment, the options on it, what learners see, and how sign-off works.

Creating an assignment
Open the Academy, click Reports & assignments, then the Assignments tab. Click New assignment to open the form.
- Give the assignment a name (for example "Safety training") and an optional description.
- Under Courses to complete, pick one or more courses. People must finish all of the chosen courses to complete the assignment.
- Choose who to assign it to (see below).
- Optionally set a due date.
- Optionally turn on Require before printing and/or Require a sign-off.
- Click Save.

Who you can assign to
You can assign to everyone, or to a specific mix of classes, groups and individuals:
- Everyone in the account (or "All students" on school accounts).
- Specific classes (school accounts) - one or more of your school classes.
- User groups - one or more groups.
- Individual people - hand-pick specific members.
You can combine classes, groups and individuals in a single assignment. The set of people is captured when you save, so each person gets their own tracked target.
Require before printing
Turn on Require before printing to make the assignment blocking. While someone has not finished the assigned courses, printing, slicing and other actions are locked for them. As soon as they complete the courses (and sign off, if required), the lock lifts automatically.
This is the Academy's strongest tool for safety and onboarding: nobody touches a printer until they have passed the training you require.
Require a sign-off
Finishing the courses is sometimes not enough - you may want the person to actively confirm they have read and understood the training. Turn on Require a sign-off and the person is asked to type their full name to confirm completion after they finish the courses.
You can set custom attestation text for the prompt, for example "I confirm I have completed and understood this safety training". If you leave it blank, a default confirmation message is shown.
What learners see
People with an active assignment see a Your assigned courses panel at the top of the Academy. Each assignment shows:
- Its name and status (not started / in progress).
- A Required to print badge if it is blocking.
- The due date, if one is set.
- Each course with a tick once completed, and a link to jump straight in.
Once they have completed every course in a sign-off assignment, a Sign off button appears so they can confirm and finish.

Managing assignments
The Assignments tab lists every assignment with its courses, who it is assigned to, and a completed-versus-total count. For each assignment you can:
- Edit it to change courses, targets or options.
- Archive it - this stops it blocking and hides it, but keeps its history.
- Delete it - this permanently removes the assignment and its progress records.
To track progress in detail, use the Reports tab, which breaks completion down by course, class and individual.
