Getting a print room poster printed at a print shop

No poster printer at school? A print shop will print any of your print room posters in a big size, from A2 to A0 or 18 × 24 to 24 × 36 inches. SimplyPrint makes the PDF in the format the shop asks for and suggests shops in your country.

Print room posters are part of the School and Enterprise plans. Read the print room posters feature first if you have not used them yet.

In this article:

Which size to choose

The posters are drawn as vector graphics, so they stay sharp at any size. Only pictures you uploaded yourself can look soft when printed very large.

Size

Good for

A4 or US Letter

A door, a noticeboard, next to each printer

A3 or Tabloid (11 × 17 in)

Beside the printers, readable from a few steps away

A2 or 18 × 24 in

A wall in the print room

A1, A0 or 24 × 36 in

Read from across the room

A4, A3, Letter and Tabloid print on most office printers, so you can print those yourself. For the bigger sizes, use a poster printer or a print shop.

Download a PDF for a print shop

  1. Open the poster and choose Print or download.
  2. Under Have it printed as a big poster, choose the Size and your Country. The country starts as the one you are in, or your account's country.
  3. Choose PDF for the shop you want to use. The PDF is made in the size you chose, with the extra edge that shop asks for.
  4. Choose Open website to go to the shop's poster page.

To use a shop we do not list, choose Print-ready PDF for another shop: it has the 3 mm extra edge most shops ask for.

You can also open Get it printed at the top of the posters page to see the sizes and the shops for your country before you pick a poster.

Order the poster

  1. On the shop's website, choose a poster in the same size you downloaded.
  2. Upload the PDF.
  3. Choose the paper and finish the order on their website. Most shops deliver; some let you pick the poster up in a store.

Choose the same size at the shop as in SimplyPrint. A PDF in another size is scaled by the shop, and the edges may be cut off.

These are suggestions to get you started, not partners. SimplyPrint is not affiliated with any of them, gets nothing for sending you there, and has not tried them. Prices, sizes and delivery are up to each shop.

In other countries, take the print-ready PDF to a local print or copy shop and ask for it on poster paper in the size you chose. Most will print it as it is.

What is in the print-ready PDF

Print shops ask for files in a particular way. The PDFs from SimplyPrint are made like this:

  • One page, at the final size plus bleed. Bleed is a little extra artwork around the edge that the shop trims off, so the colour reaches all the way to the edge. Most shops ask for 3 mm; Onlineprinters asks for 2 mm. The PDF for Officeworks has none, as they print at the final size.
  • No crop marks. None of the shops want them.
  • Vector text and graphics, so the poster is sharp at any size.
  • RGB colours. The shops we list convert them to their printing colours (CMYK) themselves. The blue of the poster may print very slightly differently than it looks on screen.
