The print room posters feature: posters for your school's 3D printers
Put clear, good-looking posters up next to your 3D printers: how to clean the build plate, how to sign up, how to send a print from the slicer, print room rules and more. Download one of the ready-made posters as it is, change it, or make your own, then print it on your own printer or have it printed as a big poster.

Where to find the posters
Open Academy in the sidebar and choose Posters. You can also find them with the Print room posters button on the Academy page, or by searching for "posters" in the panel's search.
The page has two tabs: Ready-made, with the posters we made for you, and Your posters, with the ones your account has saved.
The ready-made posters
Every poster is free to print and put up, as many as you like. There are eleven to start from:
- How to clean the build plate - let it cool, take the print off, wipe it, put it back
- How to sign up - with a QR code to your school's own sign-up page
- How to 3D print - from a model on your computer to a print in your hand
- How 3D printing works - design, slice, print, collect, without naming any software
- From the slicer to the printer - slice, then add it to the queue or print it right away
- Print room rules
- Printer safety
- Looking after filament
- Changing filament
- Better prints
- Printer maintenance
Choose Print or download under a poster to use it as it is, or Change to make it your own. Changing a ready-made poster never changes it for anyone else: you get your own copy to save.
Make your own poster
Short text prints biggest. If there is more text than fits, it is made smaller automatically, and the editor tells you when even that is not enough.Choose New poster to start from a blank one, or Change on any poster. The preview on the left shows the poster exactly as it will print.
In the Poster box you choose:
- Title - the big text at the top.
- Style - Numbered steps (1, 2, 3 down the page), List (the same, without numbers), or Spotlight (big and centred, for one or two messages such as "Clean the plate when you're done!").
- Position - where the text sits when there is room to spare: top, middle, bottom or spread out.
- Paper - A4, A3, US Letter or Tabloid for an office printer, and A2, A1, A0, 18 × 24 in or 24 × 36 in for a poster printer or print shop.
- Picture size and Background.
Below it, each part of the poster (up to four) has a picture, a heading and a text. For the picture, choose one of our illustrations or icons, or upload your own (PNG, JPEG or WebP). Use the arrows to change the order, and Add a step (or Add a part) for another one.
Every poster carries a small SimplyPrint logo at the bottom.
Add a QR code
Turn on Add a QR code to put a code in the box at the bottom of the poster. It can lead to:
- Sign-up page - your school's own sign-up page, so students join your account (shown when sign-up is turned on for your account).
- Sign-in page - your school's own sign-in page.
- Hub - your Hub, if you use it.
- A panel page, such as Files, the slicer or the print queue.
- Another web address - any address starting with https://.
Add a caption such as "Scan to sign up", and choose whether the web address is printed under it, for anyone without a phone.
Print or download a poster
Choose Print or download on a poster, or at the top of the editor:
- Print opens your browser's print dialog for the poster. In Safari the poster opens in a new tab instead: print it from there.
- Download PDF saves the poster as a PDF in the size you chose.
- Have it printed as a big poster gives you a print-ready PDF in a poster size and print shops in your country that take it. See Getting a print room poster printed at a print shop.
You do not have to save a poster to print or download it.
Saved posters
Choose Save poster in the editor to keep it. Saved posters are on the Your posters tab for everyone in your account who can see posters, so a colleague can print or change the same poster. An account can save up to 100 posters.
Who can see and make posters
Two permissions in Settings > Organization > User groups decide this:
- See print room posters - open the posters and print or download them.
- Make, change and delete posters - make new posters, change saved ones and delete them.
Both are on by default for administrators and teachers (user groups that can administrate the account, manage courses or assign courses). To let teachers only print the posters, turn off Make, change and delete posters for their group. Students do not have either permission unless you give it to them.
