Guided slicer Check step: understand print checks and recommendations
The Check step measures the active build plate, explains the most important printability concerns, and prepares a setup for the selected printer and print goal. The instant local result appears first, with optional AI review added only when you choose it and have an allowance.

Start a print check
Complete the Pick step, then choose Check my model. Guided slicer snapshots the active plate, printer, engine, profile, goal, and model transforms before the check begins.
The local geometry analysis runs in a worker so the page remains responsive. Navigation and model changes are held while the check is active to prevent a result from mixing two different setups.
If the model, printer, engine, or profile changes after the check, Guided slicer invalidates the old result and asks you to check again before applying it.
What the local check measures
The printability report includes the model's dimensions, surface and volume estimates, build-plate contact, center-of-mass stability, overhangs, unsupported spans, estimated support volume, thin-area and wall measurements, connected or floating parts, and basic mesh-topology signals.
These measurements are deterministic. They do not depend on AI and remain available on Free accounts and in organizations that turn AI off.
The check applies the selected printer's usable build volume and exclusion zones. A model can be geometrically small enough in general but still fail the selected machine's actual fit check.
Read the verdict
Ready to print means the check did not find a blocking problem. There may still be optional improvements, such as using a finer profile for a decorative surface.
Ready with changes means the suggested setup resolves or reduces one or more warnings. Review the checked rows before continuing.
Choose another approach means the measured setup has a hard problem that the available recommendation cannot safely repair. Examples include an unresolved fit problem, severe mesh damage, or a part whose job is better suited to another manufacturing method.
Review concerns and fixes
Guided slicer shows the most important concerns first. Expand More when additional findings are available. Concern text explains the observed measurement in everyday language instead of showing only an internal error code.
Some concerns include a direct fix, such as making a single oversized model fit. Depending on the result, alternatives can include scaling, hollowing, splitting, reorientation, simplifying the model, using another model, or choosing another manufacturing method.
Treat the print check as decision support, not a guarantee. Model geometry, filament condition, printer calibration, and real adhesion can still affect the finished print.
Review the suggested setup
The suggested setup can include material, a real compatible print profile, infill, supports, orientation, scale, adhesion, walls, layer height, and infill pattern. At apply time, only supported and permitted optional settings are changed.
Each row includes a reason. Leave a row checked to apply it, or clear it when you prefer your current value. The profile row shows the actual profile name selected from those available for the machine, such as a standard, strength, draft, or fine profile.
A row marked Your teacher chose this is organization policy. It stays selected and cannot be declined by the student. If the chosen value is unavailable for the active printer or engine, Guided slicer blocks the apply action with an explanation instead of silently substituting another value.
Use an AI print check
Turn on the AI option before checking when you want a visual review. Guided slicer captures six labelled views of the active plate and sends them with the minimized measured report, printer limits, goal, and allowed profile traits.
The AI response is not trusted directly. SimplyPrint validates the returned schema, clamps values, removes unknown fields, and enforces measured-fit and teacher-policy rules. Guided then maps a profile choice to a real compatible profile and rechecks permissions when you apply it.
The result identifies whether a recommendation came from the local rules or the optional AI check. AI does not move, rotate, scale, or apply settings until you accept the corresponding row.
Understand AI allowance and fallback
The AI card shows the account's plan, trial, or purchased AI allowance before a request. Rank, user, and workgroup limits are enforced when you submit a check; they are not all folded into the displayed allowance counter.
A successful uncached AI check consumes one AI slicer assist. Cached results and failed provider requests do not consume a successful assist. If the request fails, times out, or returns an invalid result, Guided slicer keeps the local rules result on screen.
The AI allowance is separate from the normal cloud-slicing allowance. You may have local checks available while AI is exhausted, or AI checks available while no cloud slices remain.
Check again after a change
Use Check again after adjusting the model or changing its goal. School organizations may limit how many AI rechecks a student can make for the same model. The local check remains the baseline even when an additional AI request is not allowed.
Applying an orientation or scale recommendation changes the geometry. Guided slicer treats that result as consumed so it cannot be applied repeatedly and multiply the transform.
If you switch printer, engine, nozzle, or profile, return to Pick and run a fresh check. Recommendations are always bound to the setup they were measured against.
