How to change slicer settings before slicing
How to change slicer settings before slicing
The Cloud Slicer lets you adjust slicer engine settings before generating G-code. This guide explains where settings are, how settings modes work, and what happens when you change a value.

Before you change settings
The settings shown in the Cloud Slicer come from the selected slicer engine and profiles.
This means the available settings can change when you change:
- Slicer engine
- Engine version
- Machine profile
- Nozzle diameter
- Filament profile
- Print profile
If a setting is missing, first check that the correct engine and profiles are selected.
Change a setting
- Open Slicer in SimplyPrint.
- Select the printer, machine profile, filament profile, and print profile you want to use.
- Find the settings panel in the Cloud Slicer sidebar.
- Choose a settings mode if available.
- Open the category you want to edit.
- Change the setting value.
- Slice the model again to use the updated settings.
Changed settings are used for the next slice.
Settings modes
The Cloud Slicer may show settings in different modes.
Mode | What it is for |
|---|---|
Basic | The most common settings |
Simple | More settings without showing everything |
Advanced | Full access to detailed slicer settings |
Not every user or organization will have access to every mode. The settings available also depend on the selected engine and profiles.
Setting categories
Settings are grouped into categories such as quality, strength, speed, support, and others.
Use the category tabs to move between groups. If you know what setting you are looking for, use the search field.
Saving profile changes
Changing a setting can affect the current slice. If you want to reuse those changes later, save them to a custom profile where your account permissions allow it.
For example, you may want separate print profiles for:
- Fast drafts
- Fine detail
- Strong parts
- Support-heavy models
- A specific printer and filament combination
If you are using a system profile, you may need to copy it before saving your own changes.
Temperature settings
Filament temperatures are controlled by the slicer filament profile, not by normal SimplyPrint filament inventory values.
If you search for temperature settings, the Cloud Slicer may point you to the filament profile settings. Edit the filament profile if you want to change nozzle or bed temperatures used in the sliced G-code.
