How to enable camera access in your browser

How to enable camera access in your browser

Some features in SimplyPrint - like scanning QR codes or barcodes with your device's camera - require camera permission in your browser. If you're seeing a "permission blocked" message, your browser is preventing SimplyPrint from accessing your camera.

This guide shows how to enable camera access in the most common browsers.

Quick fix

When SimplyPrint requests camera access, your browser shows a permission prompt. If you accidentally clicked "Block" or dismissed the prompt, you can fix it by clicking the lock icon (or site info icon) in your browser's address bar, finding the camera setting, and changing it to "Allow".

After changing the permission, refresh the page.

Google Chrome

Option 1: Via the address bar

  1. Click the lock icon (or site info icon) to the left of the URL.
  2. Find Camera in the dropdown.
  3. Change the setting to Allow.
  4. Refresh the page.

Option 2: Via Chrome settings

  1. Click the three-dot menu in the top right and select Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy and security > Site settings.
  3. Under "Permissions", click Camera.
  4. Find simplyprint.io in the list and set it to Allow.

For more details, see Google's camera permission guide.

Mozilla Firefox

Option 1: Via the address bar

  1. Click the permissions icon to the left of the URL.
  2. Look for the camera permission status.
  3. Click the X next to "Blocked" to reset it.
  4. Refresh the page - Firefox will ask for permission again.

Option 2: Via Firefox settings

  1. Click the menu button and select Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll to Permissions and click Settings next to Camera.
  4. Find simplyprint.io and change it to Allow.
  5. Click Save Changes.

For more details, see Mozilla's camera permission guide.

Microsoft Edge

Option 1: Via the address bar

  1. Click the lock icon to the left of the URL.
  2. Select Site settings (or Permissions for this site).
  3. Set Camera to Allow.
  4. Refresh the page.

Option 2: Via Edge settings

  1. Click the three-dot menu and select Settings.
  2. Go to Cookies and site permissions > Camera.
  3. Make sure "Sites can ask to use your camera" is enabled.
  4. Check if simplyprint.io is in the "Block" list and remove it.

Windows system permissions

If Edge still can't access your camera, check Windows settings:

  1. Open Settings (Win+I).
  2. Go to Privacy & security > Camera.
  3. Make sure "Let desktop apps access your camera" is turned on.

For more details, see Microsoft's camera permission guide.

Safari (Mac)

  1. In Safari, go to Safari > Settings (or Preferences).
  2. Click the Websites tab.
  3. Select Camera in the sidebar.
  4. Find simplyprint.io and set it to Allow.

You can also change the default behavior for all websites under "When visiting other websites" at the bottom.

For more details, see Apple's camera permission guide.

Safari (iPhone/iPad)

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap Apps > Safari.
  3. Tap Camera.
  4. Find the SimplyPrint website and tap Allow.

Alternatively, when Safari prompts you for camera access on a website, tap Allow to grant permission.

Still not working?

If you've enabled camera access but it's still not working:

  1. Try a different browser - This helps determine if the issue is browser-specific.
  2. Check if another app is using the camera - Close other apps that might be using your webcam.
  3. Restart your browser - Sometimes a restart clears temporary glitches.
  4. Update your browser - Outdated browsers can have permission issues.
  5. Check antivirus software - Some security software blocks camera access.
