How to slice, preview, download, and send sliced files

This guide walks through the full Cloud Slicer output flow: slicing a model, checking the G-code preview, downloading the file, saving it to SimplyPrint, adding it to the queue, or starting a print.

Before you slice

Make sure the slicer has the information it needs:

  • A model on the build plate
  • A selected printer or machine profile
  • A selected nozzle size or machine variant
  • A print profile
  • A filament with a material and filament profile
  • Any supports, infill, layer height, or other settings you want to change

If something required is missing, the slicer will show a message before it lets you slice.

Slice the model

  1. Open Slicer.
  2. Import or choose a model.
  3. Select the printer, machine profile, filament profile, and print profile.
  4. Adjust the model and settings.
  5. Click Slice.

While slicing, SimplyPrint may show upload progress, queue position, slicer progress, result download, and preview preparation.

What happens after slicing

When the slice succeeds, SimplyPrint downloads the generated output file and switches to preview mode.

In preview mode you can:

  • View the sliced G-code
  • Check print information, when available
  • Download the generated file
  • Save it to your SimplyPrint files
  • Add it to the print queue, if queue access is available
  • Start the print on a printer, if printing access is available
  • Use multi-print when the selected output needs a printer picker or bulk print flow

Preview before sending

Use the preview to check the sliced result before you print.

You can inspect:

  • Layers
  • Line types
  • Extruders
  • Speeds
  • Fan speeds
  • Seams, when shown by the preview

The preview is based on the generated G-code. If you go back and change the model, printer, or settings, re-slice before using the output.

Download the sliced file

Click Download to save the generated file to your device.

This is useful when you want to:

  • Copy the file to an SD card or USB drive
  • Upload the file somewhere else
  • Keep a local copy of the generated G-code
  • Print through a workflow outside SimplyPrint

Save the sliced file in SimplyPrint

Click Save to add the generated file to your SimplyPrint files.

SimplyPrint will ask where to save the file. After saving, you can use it later from your files, queue, or normal print workflows.

Send the sliced file to the queue

Click Queue to add the generated file to the print queue.

The queue button only appears when your account and role can use the queue workflow. If you opened the slicer from an existing queue item, the queue menu may also offer a replace option.

Start printing from the slicer

Click Print to start the sliced output from the slicer.

If the selected printer is ready, SimplyPrint can start the print on that printer. If the selected target is a printer model or the selected printer is not directly ready, SimplyPrint opens the multi-print flow instead.

If preview is disabled

If G-code preview is disabled on your device, the slicer still completes the slice and shows the available file actions. You can preview only this file, re-enable preview on the device, download the file, save it, queue it, or print it.
