Custom dashboards: build your own fleet overview

Custom dashboards: build your own fleet overview

Custom dashboards let you build your own live view of everything happening across your printers, from a palette of drag-and-drop cards. You choose the numbers, graphs, printer views and lists that matter to you, arrange them exactly how you want, and save several focused dashboards side by side. This guide explains what they are, who they help, and how they sit alongside the rest of SimplyPrint.

Custom dashboards are part of the Print Farm plan, and are included on the Education and Enterprise plans too. On other plans you'll see a locked preview with sample data, so you can see how it works before deciding to upgrade.

What a custom dashboard is

Open Dashboards from the left menu, at simplyprint.io/panel/dashboard. A dashboard is a grid of cards that you put together yourself. Each card shows one thing - a single number, a graph, your live printers, the print queue, or upcoming maintenance - and you add, remove, resize and rearrange them until the layout tells you what you want to know at a glance.

You can build more than one. Keep a broad "control room" dashboard for the whole account, a tighter one for a single printer group, and a simple one for the people who just drop off files. Switch between them from a dropdown at the top of the page.

The data is live. Printer, queue and active-print cards update over your connection as things change, and a refresh button pulls the latest statistics on demand.

Who they're for

  • Farm operators who want one screen for active prints, the queue, and any printers that need attention.
  • Owners and managers who care about totals, success rate, cost and utilisation over time.
  • Schools and makerspaces that want a friendly landing page with quick links, announcements and a file drop-off.

How this differs from other SimplyPrint views

Custom dashboards overlap with a few other features, so here is the quick distinction:

  • The Statistics tab is a fixed, read-only report of your printing history. A custom dashboard is yours to build, and it can mix those same statistics with live fleet and queue cards. See the Statistics article linked below.
  • Display screens are unauthenticated views built for a TV or monitor on the wall - no login needed and kiosk friendly. Custom dashboards live inside the panel for signed-in members. If you want a wall display, use display screens (linked below).

Reserved student and teacher dashboards

On the Education (School) plan, custom dashboards include two reserved templates - a Student dashboard and a Teacher dashboard - that give each classroom role a ready-made landing page. They live in the same builder, sit under a separate "Class dashboards" group in the switcher, and they don't count towards your dashboard limit. You edit them like any other dashboard, but their audience is fixed to the role, so every student sees the student dashboard and every teacher sees the teacher one. They are the modern, card-based replacement for the old fixed school dashboards.

If you run a school, start with the reserved templates and add your own custom dashboards alongside them. See the teacher and student dashboard guide linked below.
