How to get the log files from your printer for troubleshooting

In this article, we'll show you how to get the log files from your printer. This only works for OctoPrint-powered devices, which is the default setup, and will be what you run if you simply use the "SimplyPrint OS" image for a Raspberry Pi.

How to get the log files via SimplyPrint

Via the SimplyPrint web platform (https://simplyprint.io/panel/), go to your "Printers" page.
If you have multiple printers, click on the printer you'd like to get logs from
In the right side, click the dropdown button "v" next to the settings button
Click "Get logs";

Click "Get logs" in the popup
Here, select at least the "OctoPrint log" and "SimplyPrint communications log" files, and click "Request logs"
Wait ~10 seconds, and shortly you should get the log files

Now, you can read or download the log files directly via SimplyPrint panel

I didn't receive the log files - what to do?

If the log files weren't received, there's most likely an issue on your Pi / device.

Try and restart your Pi / device and see if that helps.

What to do now?

If you're just looking in the log files for your own amusement, you're good to go!

But, if you've been asked by SimplyPrint staff to retrieve the log files, please send it to us by email at contact@simplyprint.io - with some context about the issue - or to whichever email provided by the given support agent.
