SimplyPrint on your phone: the mobile app
The SimplyPrint mobile app puts your printers in your pocket. Live cameras, one-tap pause and cancel, push notifications on every print event, and AI failure detection alerts all show up on the device that's always with you. The app is free, runs on iPhone, iPad, and Android, and is included on every SimplyPrint plan from Free through Enterprise.
This is the overview article. Each section here links to a step-by-step guide on the specific topic.

What the app does
The mobile app is built around four daily tasks:
- Watch your printers. Open any printer to see its live camera, current job, temperatures, and progress.
- Control prints. Pause, resume, cancel, and clear the bed from your phone.
- Stay alerted. Push notifications fire on print start, print done, print failed, AI failure alerts, filament runout, and (on Schools + Enterprise) queue items waiting for approval.
- Approve work. Teachers, lab admins, and queue approvers can review pending queue items from the app and approve or deny without opening a laptop.
The app is a thin companion layer over the SimplyPrint cloud. Everything you do in the app is reflected on simplyprint.io/panel and vice versa.
What it doesn't do
The web panel is still the right place for setup-heavy work:
- Setting up a new printer
- Slicing files in the cloud slicer
- Building the print queue from scratch
- Configuring permissions, plans, billing
- Maintenance scheduling and templates
The app focuses on monitoring and control, not authoring. If you find yourself reaching for a small detail that isn't in the app, it's probably on simplyprint.io/panel.
Plan availability
The SimplyPrint app is free on every plan, including the Free plan. There's no per-device fee and no premium app tier. The features the app surfaces mirror the features your plan unlocks on the web, so:
Capability | Plan |
|---|---|
Sign in, watch cameras, basic control | Free+ |
Push notifications | Free+ |
AI failure detection alerts | Available on every plan within the AI quota included on that plan (see the AI Failure Detection article) |
Approving queue items | School and Enterprise only |
Get the app
Download the SimplyPrint app from your phone's store:
- iPhone and iPad: App Store
- Android phones and tablets: Google Play
Both store listings are run by the same SimplyPrint team that ships simplyprint.io. The app is signed, sandboxed, and updated regularly through the official stores.
For the full first-launch flow, see Download and sign in to the SimplyPrint app.
Sign in for the first time
Sign in with the same email and password you use on simplyprint.io/panel. SSO accounts (school and enterprise) sign in via the same SSO provider configured on the web. Two-factor authentication is supported the same way as on web.
The app shows every printer your SimplyPrint account has access to. If you belong to multiple companies (for example, a teacher who's also in a maker collective), you can switch between them from the app's account menu.

Push notifications
The app uses your phone's native notification system, so alerts show up on the lock screen and in the notification tray even when the app is closed. The first launch will ask for notification permission; grant it so the app can actually notify you.
Push events you can opt into per printer:
- Print started
- Print finished
- Print failed or cancelled
- Filament ran out (or is predicted to run out)
- AI failure detection alert
- Queue item waiting for approval (Schools + Enterprise)
You choose which events fire on which printer, and you can mute a single machine without touching the others.

Watching a print
Tap any printer to open its detail screen. You'll see:
- The live camera tile (if the printer has a camera connected)
- Current temperatures (hotend, bed)
- Job name, progress, and ETA
- Pause, resume, cancel, and clear-bed buttons
Pinch to zoom on the camera, rotate to landscape for full-screen viewing. If AI failure detection is active for that job, the AI overlay shows where the model thinks the issue is, and you can pause from the alert itself.

Approving queue items (Schools + Enterprise)
On School and Enterprise accounts, the print queue can require teacher or admin approval before a job runs. The app lets approvers review the file, see who submitted it, and approve or deny on the spot, without sitting down at a desk.
This is a Schools + Enterprise capability tied to the USAGE_POLICIES and queue approval rules; it's not available on Free, Basic, Pro, or Print Farm.
