Holiday Gimmicks in SimplyPrint

SimplyPrint features fun, seasonal UI effects that celebrate various holidays throughout the year. These special effects add a festive touch to your 3D printing experience!

What Are Holiday Gimmicks?

Holiday gimmicks are temporary, theme-based visual effects that appear in the SimplyPrint interface during specific times of the year. They're designed to be fun and non-intrusive, adding a bit of seasonal cheer to your workspace.

Available Holiday Gimmicks

🎃 Halloween Gimmick

• When: October 24th - November 2nd
• What it does: Adds spooky Halloween-themed visual effects to the interface
• Accessibility: Respects the prefers-reduced-motion browser setting for users with motion sensitivities

🎄 Christmas Snow

• When: December 1st - December 27th
• What it does: Creates a festive snow effect on your screen
• Accessibility: Respects the prefers-reduced-motion browser setting, as the snow animation can be distracting for screen readers and users with motion sensitivities

🐣 April Fools Prank

• When: April 1st
• What it does: A fun, lighthearted prank element in the UI
• Accessibility: Safe for all users, including those with motion sensitivities

Opting Out of Holiday Gimmicks

If you prefer a consistent, professional interface without seasonal effects, you can opt out at various levels:

Temporary Toggle

Users can also temporarily toggle holiday gimmicks on or off using the seasonal icon in the top navigation bar (when available). This creates a 30-day cookie that overrides the display, but doesn't change your permanent settings.

Account/Organization-Level Opt-Out

Organization administrators can disable holiday gimmicks for all users in their company:

1. Navigate to Settings → General (https://simplyprint.io/panel/settings/general)
2. Scroll to the "General" section
3. Check "Opt out of holiday gimmicks"
4. This will disable holiday effects for all users in your organization

Required Permission: org_administrate

User-Level Opt-Out

Individual users can disable holiday gimmicks for their own account - only if you're a part of a multi-user-organization; this will be your personal preference.

1. Navigate to your User Settings (https://simplyprint.io/panel/user_settings)
2. Find the "Opt out of holiday gimmicks" option
3. Enable it to disable all holiday effects for your user account

Partner-Level Opt-Out

Partners can disable holiday gimmicks for all companies they manage:

1. Navigate to the Partner Portal
2. Go to Partner Settings → General & UI
3. Check "Opt out of holiday gimmicks"
4. This will disable holiday effects for all partner-managed companies

OEM-Level Opt-Out

OEM platforms can disable holiday gimmicks by default in their configuration:

• Contact SimplyPrint to have this change made in your OEM settings

Automatic Accessibility Opt-Out

SimplyPrint automatically respects accessibility preferences:

• If a user has prefers-reduced-motion enabled in their browser settings, motion-heavy gimmicks (Halloween and Christmas) are automatically disabled
• The April Fools gimmick continues to show, as it doesn't involve motion effects
• The holiday gimmick toggle icon in the navigation bar will be hidden if accessibility settings would block the current gimmick
