Running multiple locations on one SimplyPrint login
Running multiple locations on one SimplyPrint login
If you operate from more than one physical location, run several classrooms or campuses, or want to keep different teams completely separate, you can add a new location to your existing SimplyPrint login. Each location is its own workspace with its own subscription, printers, filament inventory and team — and you switch between them from the top right in one click, without signing out.
What is a separate location?
A location is a fully separate SimplyPrint workspace. It has:
- Its own paid subscription and invoices.
- Its own printers, queue, files, filament storage and label generator settings.
- Its own users, ranks and permissions.
- Its own country/currency and tax handling.
You and your team can be members of as many locations as you like. The account switcher in the top-right of the panel shows every workspace you belong to and lets you flip between them without re-logging-in.
When to use a new location vs printer groups
Printer groups split a single workspace by which printers different users can see. A new location splits the workspace itself. Use this table to decide:
If you want... | Use printer groups | Use a new location |
|---|---|---|
Restrict who can see/use which printers | ✓ |
|
Separate billing / invoices per site |
| ✓ |
Separate filament inventory and storage per site |
| ✓ |
Separate print queue and approval rules per site |
| ✓ |
Different team and user ranks per site |
| ✓ |
Different country/currency per site |
| ✓ |
Allow some users to oversee multiple sites |
| ✓ (members of both) |
In short: printer groups are about access inside one organization. New locations are about separating organizations under one login.
Before you start
- You need to be an admin of your current account (
Organization administratepermission). - You need a payment method on the new location. New locations bill immediately — there is no free trial on additional locations because your account already had one.
- The new location can be on Pro, Print Farm, School or Enterprise. Free, Basic, Cloud Slicer and Filament Manager are not available for additional locations.
How to add a new location
- Open the account switcher in the top-right of the panel.
- Click + Add new location.
- Pick a name, country and workspace type (Private/business, Print farm, School, Makerspace).
- Continue to step 2 and pick a plan. Toggle yearly billing if you'd prefer to pay annually.
- Optionally inherit display preferences from your current account (currency, queue approval, filament tracking on/off, default tags).
- Optionally invite your current teammates to the new location.
- Click Create and continue to payment. You'll be switched into the new workspace and the in-panel billing flow will collect a payment method to start the subscription.
What gets copied from your current account
When you tick Inherit settings, the new location starts with these preferences from your existing account:
- Default currency
- Filament tracking decision and weight unit (kg vs g)
- Queue approval setting (on/off and notification preferences)
- Print time display preference
- Default tag display (nozzle, material, color, bed type)
- Autostart prints on/off
- Material temperature margins
The following are never copied: filament inventory, printers, queue items, users, ranks, custom fields, files, custom slicer profiles, SSO configuration, claimed academic domain.
Inviting teammates to the new location
Existing teammates from your current account can be invited as part of the create flow (toggle Invite teammates in step 2, then either pick everyone or specific people). Each location maintains its own user ranks; teammates accept the invitation by email and choose to join the new workspace from the same login.
Switching between locations
Click the company name in the top-right of the panel to open the account switcher, then click any location. The panel reloads inside that workspace; everything you see (printers, queue, filament, users) is now scoped to that location.
Billing per location
Each location is billed separately. There is no shared multi-location discount. Invoices, payment methods and payment history are tracked per location, and changing the plan on one location does not affect the others.
FAQs
Can two users with different roles share one location? Yes — each location has its own users and ranks. Users you invite can have different ranks in different locations.
Can I change the country later? No. Country sets currency and tax handling, both of which are locked at creation.
Can I merge two locations later? No. If you've split data across locations on purpose, the data lives where you put it. Move printers and filament before splitting if you're undecided.
What happens if I close one location? Cancel the subscription on that location to stop billing. Other locations are unaffected.
Can I get the trial again on a new location? No. The free trial is tied to your account and runs once. New locations bill immediately, pro-rated to the day.
