The SimplyPrint panel: a tour of every area
The SimplyPrint panel is where you manage everything: your printers, files, print queue, filament, slicing, users and account settings. This guide is a map of the whole panel - what every item in the left sidebar does, what lives in the top bar, and where to go next for each area.
If you are brand new, start with Welcome to SimplyPrint for the big picture, or Getting started with SimplyPrint and common use cases for the right path for your situation. This article is the reference you come back to when you want to know "what is that, and where does it take me?".
What this guide covers
- The left sidebar - the main navigation
- The top bar - your account, account switcher, news, the suggestion box, Hub and dark mode
- Where to go next - the deeper guide for each area
The left sidebar
The sidebar on the left is your main navigation. Click an item to open that area. On a narrow screen, tap the menu icon (the three lines) in the top-left to open and close it.
Here is what each sidebar item is for, roughly in the order they appear.
Printers
Your live printer dashboard. Every connected printer shows here with its status, current print, temperatures and camera feed. Click a printer to open its full control page, start or stop prints, send commands and watch the camera. This is the heart of day-to-day printing.
Your files
Your file library. Upload models and sliced files, organise them into folders, and send them to a printer or into the queue. Files you slice in the Cloud Slicer also land here. See Your files for the full breakdown.
Queue
The print queue lines up jobs across all your printers. SimplyPrint matches each queued item to a free printer by material, nozzle size and tags, then starts it automatically. The queue is where farms and classrooms keep printers busy without babysitting them. See the print queue.
Statistics
Charts and totals for your printing: filament used, print time, success and failure rates, cost, and breakdowns per printer, per user and over time. Good for spotting trends and reporting on a farm or a classroom. See the statistics dashboard.
Print history
A searchable log of every print job that has run, finished, failed or been cancelled, with the file, printer, user, filament and a timeline for each one. This is where you go to answer "what happened on that print?". See print history.
Filament
The filament manager: your spool inventory. Track what filament you have, how much is left, where each spool lives, and which printer it is loaded in. SimplyPrint can deduct filament automatically as prints run. See the filament manager guide.
Slicer
The Cloud Slicer slices your models into printable files right in the browser - no desktop slicer needed. Import a model, pick a printer and filament profile, slice, preview, then queue or print. See the Cloud Slicer guide.
GCODE Macros
Saved snippets of G-code you can drop into start/end scripts or run on demand - things like a nozzle wipe, a bed-levelling routine, or a custom park position. See G-code macros.
Maintenance
Track upkeep on your printers: log jobs, set schedules, build templates, manage spare-part inventory and record problems. The dashboard tells you what is due and what is overdue. See the maintenance guide.
Academy
The teaching and course area. Build courses and assignments, track attendance, and run a 3D-printing curriculum for students. You will only see this if your account uses Academy. See the Academy.
Settings
Account-wide settings: printer defaults, filament settings, Hub options, user registration, access restrictions and more. What you can change here depends on your permissions.
Users
The people in your account: invite members, set their user group and permissions, approve new sign-ups and manage access. See Managing your users.
Integrations
Connect SimplyPrint to other tools and services - CAD apps, automation platforms and more. See Integrations.
The top bar
The bar across the top holds your account controls and a few quick actions. Some items only appear when they are relevant (for example, an unpaid-invoice or expiring-card alert).
Your account menu
Your avatar and name on the right. Click it to open your account menu, which has:
- Your account - your personal settings, password, two-factor authentication and notification preferences.
- A light/dark mode switch for the panel.
- Log out.
On a narrow window, less important top-bar icons (like dark mode and print troubleshooting) tuck themselves into this menu automatically.
Account switcher
If you belong to more than one account (for example your own and a school, or several organisations), the account switcher lets you jump between them without logging out. Each account has its own printers, files and settings.
News
The bell-style news icon shows product announcements and new features. A dot means there is something you have not read yet.
Suggestion box
Got an idea for SimplyPrint? The suggestion box is our public feature-request board, where you post ideas, see what others have suggested and upvote the ones you want most. A large share of the platform started as a user suggestion, so it is worth a look. You can reach it from the panel, and it lives at suggestions.simplyprint.io. See the suggestion box.
Hub
Organisation accounts get a Hub button that opens the Hub - a shared, screen-friendly view of all your printers, built for a wall display, a shared classroom screen or a makerspace kiosk. See the Hub.
Dark mode
Toggle between light and dark themes for the panel. Your choice is remembered.
Print troubleshooting
The tools icon (a small wrench-and-screwdriver) opens the print-troubleshooting wizard - a guided diagnostic for print-quality problems like stringing, warping or layer shifts. See the print troubleshooting wizard.
