My school email is not recognised

This is by far the most common issue. We use a community-maintained list of school email domains, and if your school is not on it yet, the email check fails.

Fix: Add your school to the list yourself — it takes a few minutes and unlocks verification for every student at your school. Full walkthrough: How to add your school to the student-discount verification list.

The verification email did not arrive

After you submit the academic info form, an email with a confirmation link is sent to your school email. School email servers can be slow or filter unknown senders aggressively.

Fix in order:

  1. Wait 5-10 minutes — school mail is often delayed.
  2. Check your spam or junk folder.
  3. Search your inbox for "SimplyPrint" or for the sender address.
  4. If it's genuinely missing, go back to Settings > Subscription > Student discount, click Verify again, and re-run the flow. A fresh email is sent each time.
  5. If multiple retries don't arrive, your school is filtering external email. Set up a forward from your school inbox to a personal address (most school webmail has this under Settings > Forwarding), then re-run the verification flow — the email will land in your personal inbox.

The link in the confirmation email expires after a while if you don't click it.

Fix: Go back to the eligibility card and run the verification flow again. A fresh link is sent.

Verification links are one-shot. Once clicked successfully, they cannot be clicked again.

Fix: Check the panel — your discount is probably already active. Go to Settings > Subscription and look at the Student discount card. If it shows a verified state with an expiry date, you're set. If the link gave you an error but the card still shows unverified, run the flow again to get a fresh email.

I verified but the discount is not showing on my invoice

A couple of things to check:

  • Are you on Basic or Pro? The discount only applies on Basic and Pro plans. If you're on Free, Print Farm, School, Enterprise, Cloud Slicer, or Filament Manager, the discount has nothing to attach to.
  • Was your last invoice issued before you verified? The discount applies from the next billing cycle, not retroactively. Your previous invoice (already paid) won't be refunded.
  • Did you change plans? Switching to Print Farm, School, Enterprise or side plans drops the discount. Switching back to Basic or Pro before the 12 months expires picks it up again.

If you're on Basic or Pro, verified, and the next invoice still shows the full price, the verification didn't fully complete — re-run the flow from Settings > Subscription > Student discount and click the fresh email link.

I cannot find the eligibility card

The eligibility card on Settings > Subscription only shows up if your account is eligible. It is hidden in these cases:

  • You are on a Print Farm, School, or Enterprise plan.
  • Your account is sponsored or partnered (free for marketing or partnership reasons).
  • You are already verified — the card shows the verified state instead.

If you're on a higher plan and want the student discount, drop down to Basic or Pro first. The card will appear at the bottom of the subscription page.

The form says I am not eligible

A few things can trigger this:

  • You picked Teacher. The form blocks submission if you pick Teacher under Academic Role — the discount is only for students.
  • Your plan is incompatible. If you're on a Print Farm or higher, you'll see a plan-incompatible message. Drop to Basic or Pro to continue.
  • Your account is sponsored. Sponsored or partner accounts cannot use the student discount on top.

I am getting 40% but I think my school has a SimplyPrint account

The 60% rate kicks in automatically when our system detects your school's email domain matches a paying SimplyPrint customer. If you're only getting 40%:

  • Check the email domain. Your student email may be on students.school.edu while the school's SimplyPrint account uses school.edu. The match is on the exact domain — subdomains do not count.
  • Ask whoever manages SimplyPrint at your school. They can tell you which domain the school's account is on. If the account exists but is on a different domain than your student email, the system has no way to link the two — there's nothing to fix on the SimplyPrint side, the domains genuinely don't match.

I cannot re-verify

A few cases:

  • You're too early. Re-verification opens 30 days before the current discount expires. Before that, the button isn't available.
  • You've hit the 5-verification cap. The discount can run for up to 5 years total (5 verifications). After that, the program ends permanently for your account.
  • It's been more than 5 years since your first verification. Same as above — the 5-year clock starts at first verification, not first usage.
